Safety in our school for your surf lessons
Biarritz Surf Training offers you surf lessons to learn how to surf safely.
Our school is registered with the Departmental Directorate of Youth and Sports under the number 06496ET0144.
All our instructors are certificated as Lifeguards and are holders of the State Patent Surfing Option.
Biarritz Surf Training is also affiliated to AESF (Association of French Surf Schools) whose aim is to federate schools which combine quality and safety.
SAFETY IN WATER
The ocean is still a wild environment with its subtleties and dangers. Above all, it is necessary to remain careful and attentive in the waves, for your own pleasure and your’s and other’s safety.
RULE 1: SURFING AT YOUR LEVEL
If you are a beginner, stay in mosses or small waves. Uses a foam board and protects your head in the event of a fall.
RULE 2: DO NOT PANIC IF YOU ARE TAKEN BY THE CURRENT
Do not try to swim back, stay on your board and wave your arms to alert the rescue.
RULE 3: clever SURFING
Choose waves adapted to your level and avoid spots too crowded. Never surf in stormy weather. Protect your skin from the sun by using sunscreen.
RULE 4: RESPECT BATHING AREAS
The surf areas are beyond red-green flags.
RULE 5: RESPECT THE RULES OF PRIORITY AND EASE
Basic rule: 1 wave = 1 surfer. The surfer most inside the flood has the priority. Do not throw yourself in a wave if there is someone in front of you. Do not drop your board by making ducks. Avoids collisions by circle the surf zone.
Like any unstable natural environment, the ocean carries risks. As a result, surfers undertake to monitor each other and to assist each other in the event of danger.
